Episode 2 –Sullivan Builders & Kelly Bigsby

On Episode 2 of Builders & Beer, host Mark Blickenstaff, the General Manager of Moore Lumber and Hardware in Castle Rock, Colorado is joined by Dave Sullivan and Kelly Bigsby. Dave and Kelly are a Father-Daughter Team here in Castle Rock, Colorado. They work together in real estate, flipping houses, and home renovations. 

During this episode, Dave and Kelly review a variety of different topics in the renovation world. Kelly starts with flipping houses. The real estate market is tough right now, as markets ebb and flow. However, with that comes buyers needing to invest in houses that are not “turn key ready”. This is where Kelly and Dave thrive. They review the following: 

• Remodel Design, including trends and materials
• Function and Construction, including things to watch for in demo process (bearing spaces, plumbing and electrical placement, etc.)
• Exterior Design, including doors and functionality
• Timelines and Budget, highlighting that communication and flexibility are key for a project to go well and don’t believe everything you see on HGTV (especially costs/pricing!)

Mark tries to stir the pot at the end of the episode by asking Kelly how it is to work day in and day out with your dad?! Dave’s reply: “It’s the best thing in the world!”
