Common Questions

Window & Door Screen Repair FAQ

Everything you need to know about our screen repair services

How much does window screen repair cost?

Screen repair costs vary based on the size of the screen, type of material (standard fiberglass vs. pet screen), and condition of the frame. Standard fiberglass rescreening is our most affordable option, while pet-resistant screens cost more due to the heavy-duty material. For the most accurate pricing, bring your screens to any Moore Lumber location for a free assessment and estimate — no obligation.

Can you repair a screen door damaged by pets?

Absolutely — pet damage is one of the most common repairs we handle. We strongly recommend upgrading to pet-resistant screen material, which is made from heavy-duty vinyl-coated polyester that’s approximately 7 times stronger than standard fiberglass. It resists tearing, punctures, and stretching from claws and jumping. It costs a bit more upfront, but pet owners find it’s well worth the investment since it lasts significantly longer.

How long does screen repair take?

Turnaround time depends on the number of screens you’re having repaired and the current workload at your location. Many standard rescreening jobs can be completed fairly quickly. For larger batches or custom work, it may take a bit longer. When you drop off your screens, our team will give you an estimated completion time so you know when to pick them up.

What’s the difference between fiberglass and pet screen?

Standard fiberglass screen is lightweight, affordable, and works great for most homes. It provides good airflow and visibility. Pet screen, on the other hand, is made from a much heavier vinyl-coated polyester weave — it’s roughly 7 times stronger than fiberglass and highly resistant to tears, punctures, and stretching. Pet screen is the better choice for homes with dogs or cats, or for high-traffic areas where screens take more abuse.

Do you offer custom screen sizes?

Yes! We build brand new screens to fit any window or door opening, including non-standard sizes. Whether you have an older home with odd dimensions, specialty windows, or need screens for a porch enclosure, our team can create custom screens with precise measurements for a perfect fit. Just bring in your frame (or measurements) and we’ll take care of the rest.

Do I bring my screens in, or do you come to my home?

Screen repair is a drop-off service at any of our 6 Colorado locations. Simply remove your window or door screens at home and bring them to your nearest Moore Lumber store. Our team will assess the damage, give you a quote, and complete the repair. Most window screens and sliding door screens pop out easily — if you’re unsure how to remove yours, feel free to ask our staff for tips when you visit.
