Lead Building Material Coordinator
The Lead Building Material Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily yard and warehouse operations, including loading and unloading lumber and building materials, operating forklifts, receiving and shipping products, maintaining inventory accuracy, and completing required documentation. This role ensures orders are built and audited accurately, maintains high safety standards, and delivers prompt, professional customer service. The position also supports team development, participates in inventory control and safety programs, and helps maintain a clean, organized, and efficient facility while working in both indoor and outdoor environments

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities – Lead Building Material Coordinator

Knowledge of lumber and building materials, including safe handling and storage practices

Ability to safely operate forklifts and other yard/warehouse equipment

Understanding of inventory control processes, cycle counts, and inventory record accuracy (IRA) procedures

Ability to accurately receive, ship, pick, stock, and audit orders

Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately read and write long series of numbers, SKUs, and product codes

Basic math skills, including use of a calculator, understanding fractions related to lumber measurements, and ability to read a tape measure

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and efficiently build and stage orders

Skilled in providing prompt, courteous, and professional customer service

Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and team members

Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and ability to adhere to company safety policies and programs

Ability to mentor and cross-train team members while supporting continuing education initiatives

Physical ability to lift up to 97.5 lbs., work on uneven surfaces, climb ladders, operate at heights, and work outdoors in all weather conditions

Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to teamwork, efficiency, and safety
The minimum physical requirements for this position include:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach, bend, and twist to perform job duties.

Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials up to 97.5 pounds repeatedly using proper lifting techniques.

Ability to handle awkward and oversized materials independently and with assistance.

Ability to work on uneven or slippery surfaces and in all weather conditions.

Ability to climb on and off delivery trucks, forklifts, ladders, and elevated platforms safely.
