The Opportunity
We’re seeking a high-potential Store Manager in Training (MIT) to prepare for future Store Manager leadership roles within Moore Lumber & Hardware.
This role provides hands-on, immersive training in all aspects of store leadership, including sales, operations, inventory, safety, and people management. The MIT will lead by example, learn to run a complete store operation, and develop the skills necessary to drive sales, profitability, and a strong customer-first culture.
What You’ll Do
- Lead a customer-first sales culture by delivering WOW service at the Helpful Place
- Learn and support full store operations, including sales, margins, expenses, and inventory
- Develop and maintain strong customer, vendor, and community relationships
- Execute merchandising, signage, and seasonal promotional strategies
- Review customer service metrics and implement improvement plans
- Assist with payroll, scheduling, and labor planning to meet budget goals
- Train, coach, and develop associates and department leaders
- Support hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and associate development
- Implement company best practices for operations, sales, and safety
- Ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient store, warehouse, and yard environment
- Participate in leadership training and complete at least 15 hours of continuing education annually
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of retail management experience
- 5+ years of customer service experience
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Solid understanding of business functions (finance, HR, operations)
- Excellent communication and team-building abilities
- Familiarity with lumber, building materials, and hardware products preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; EAGLE experience a plus
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

This role oversees about $9.2M in annual operations, driving sales, profitability, and team success while maintaining a customer- and community-first culture.

What We’re Looking For

The Lead Retail Consultant/Cashier is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience by engaging with customers, identifying their needs, and providing expert guidance on products and solutions to ensure their success. Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Must be at least 18 years of age.

- Skilled at providing prompt, friendly and attentive customer service.

Physical Requirements
The minimum physical requirements for this position include:
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time, walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties.
- Move and handle merchandise up to 50 pounds, and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth.
- Ability to work on elevated platforms and ladders, and at heights near open spaces where the risk of falling may be present.
